Dilly Deli Beer Events
Belgian Lambic Blending Tasting, Wednesday July 25th
TWO sessions: 5:00 to 7:00 pm OR 7:30 to 9:30 pm
$25 per person, Reservations Required! Each session limited to 40 guests!
What is this? Well, something very unique! What we'll have are two single barrel lambics from Frank Boon, one of the most highly respected lambic blenders around. Single barrel? Yes - each one of these two barrels is literally the only one in the world, an individual lot. What Boon normally does is blend all those single lots together to produce one beer. He is releasing a few single barrels so we can play the blender. You'll be served up three glasses - two with distinct and separate lambics, and one empty glass. After you sip each separately, you can use your third (empty) glass as a lab beaker and create your own blend! Half and half? Two to one? You decide! There will also be four or five other Belgian brews to sip and contemplate. This is not a big open house party kind of tasting! Due to the nature of these servings, we are only able to accomodate 40 people at a time (hopefully outside on the patio!), and reservations for a specific session are a must! Your $25 will get you a pack of tickets, each one good for a specific beer, including the single barrel lambics. Reserve by return e-mail, or by calling the wine and beer shop at 561-5233 (Burke, Kate, Chuck, Peanut or Rod) to get on the list!
Ommegang/Duvel Beer Event, Tuesday August 14th 5:00 to 9:00pm
Ahhh, here we go! This will be more like the usual craziness! Most of you are familiar with Ommegang, the brewery in Cooperstown, NY built and dedicated to true Belgian styled ales. They got so good at it that the Belgians bought them! Moortgat, the brewer of the iconic Duvel Ale, is now the corporate arent of Ommegang. Besides Ommegang and Duvel, they also own Rodenbach (Flemish sour red ales) and Maredsous (abbey-styled ales) in Belgium. Some of all of hese will be available at this event! Joining us will be John Mediate, Sales Manager for Duvel Moortgat USA, who is working on bringing something special or us, per tradition! No reservations needed here - this is a show up and pay as you go event, like our other brewery events have been, and the only thing that will keep us off the patio will be a tornado!
