Gather up your monk robes and wench outfits, because Bockfest 2008 is almost here. With any luck, the Bloatarians will be zipping along the parade route Friday evening and hosting a Bock competition on Saturday afternoon. The Cincinnati Bockfest organizers have invited us to hold our homebrew competition at Bockfest Hall. They have also invited us to stick around all afternoon and provide the public with a taste of homebrewing expertise as well as a taste of homebrewed bock beers. Here are the details as of right now...

Friday March 7th - The Parade

The Bockfest parade is held on Friday afternoon. Show up in your best monk robe or wenches outfit and join in on the festivities. Since we don't have a bunch of miniature monkmobiles like the Shriners have, we are thinking about putting monks and wenches on razor kick scooters instead. In order to pull this off, we need your help. There is some question as to the stability and weight carrying capacity of the average child's scooter when used by a full grown Bloatarian. Ask your child, grandchild, or little brother to borrow their scooter for a little while. Put on your monk robe and take the scooter out into your driveway and see if you can safely scoot around. Report your findings to me ASAP so we can decide if this is a viable route to take.

Saturday March 8th - Competition and Meet the Brewer

The homebrew competition will take place early in the afternoon on Saturday. Click the link for details and online registration for Bockfest Competition 2009. The competition will be held at Bockfest Hall somewhere on Main Street. The Bockfest sponsors have also asked that we host a "Meet the Brewer" session during the afternoon where we help educate the public about homebrewing, beer judging, and provide samplings of homebrewed bock beers. We will be looking for volunteers to help educate, pour samples, and man the Bloatarian table. We will also need homebrewed beer for sampling. Please let me know if you would be willing to put some of your bock beer (or other style) on tap for part of the afternoon.
