Northwest Ale vs. PacMan? - 2006/10/25 16:56 Hey everyone-

I've got an imperial stout fermenting in two batches, one Northwest Ale, which is supposed to be Rogue and the labelled "pacman" yeast strain. Has anyone else tried a side by side ferment with these?

The only difference in the fermenter so far has been that the krausen stayed on the pacman about a week longer, although both seemed to finish fermenting at the same time.

I'll follow up when I get to the tasting (yes, you can help), but wondered if anyone had tried this.

data point #1 - 2006/12/13 17:59 Well, I've racked both into secondary. Identical attenuation from about 1.100 to 1.028. One might be a bit under the 1.028, but I don't give my hydrometer credit for that much precision.

Further bulletins as events warrant...
