Cherry juice anyone? - 2007/08/09 03:41 I was up in Minnesota last week, and I was able to sample some New Glarus Belgian Red while I was up there. I'm inspired to try the Belgian Red clone in the last issue of Zymurgy. I've been looking at ordering some cherry juice concentrate, and I was wondering if anyone else in the club might be interested in some also.

I've found two places that sell an equivalent product: Cherryland's Best in Door County, WI, and Obstaum Orchard in Salem, MI. One quart of concentrate should be enough for a 5 gallon batch. No preservatives, but they are pasteurized. In single quantity they run about $18 a quart, but at least from Obstaum's the price drops considerably when you buy in bulk. So if anyone would like any, either post a reply, e-mail me, or let me know at Beer & Sweat. After Beer & Sweat I'll see how many people are interested and get the order together. Here's links to the two orchards if you're interested.

Re:Cherry juice anyone? - 2007/08/10 14:54 I'm not sure when it comes in, but in the past I've gotten frozen Michigan cherries from the Newtown Farmer's Market on Roundbottom Road. The price was pretty good and obviously there were no shipping costs. They were frozen whole, and, I believe, unpasteurized.

I don't recall the cost off hand, but its an alternative source if shipping is outrageous.
