Kolsch - 1998 Gold Medal - 2006/07/03 02:35 J's K?lsch
This beer won a GOLD medal in the 1998 National Homebrew Competition. Brewed by Jeremy Price

6.0 lb. English Lager malt
2.5 lb. German Munich Malt (Durst)
0.5 lb. DC Wheat malt

1.0 oz. Hallertau pellet (3.2% AA) (first wort)
1.0 oz. Tettenang whole hops (4.4% AA) (60 min)
0.5 oz Tettenang whole hops (4.4%AA) (20 min)

Boiled crushed wheat malt to gelatinize and coagulate the proteins; then cooled to 60?C and mashed in grain. Held at 50?C for 40 min; raised temp to 68?C held till starch conversion.
