Root Beer Tasting in October - 2008/08/10 15:46
Bloatarians to Host Root Beer Tasting
The Bloatarian's have been invited to host a root beer tasting at the Newport Public Library on Thursday October 2nd, 2008 at 7:00pm. We will provide some basic information on brewing root beers and making soda to the attendees. We will also compare the homebrewed versions to various store bought brands to see who comes out on top.
If you are interested in learning more about the event and how you can help, please contact John Zeller (john@beerandsweat.org) or Darryl Dieckman (darryl@beerandsweat.org).
We need help with the following:
* Some research into the historical origins of root beer, its ingredients, and the brewing process, as well as experience brewing root beers and sodas. We can put together the presentation, unless we get a volunteer that really wants to spearhead the presentation.
* Some homebrewed root beers and sodas. Brew up a batch and we will sample it at the tasting.
* Some talented taste buds. So, you know how to taste hops and malts, but what about sassafras, wintergreen, and birch? We need a few refined palettes to have fun comparing homebrewed and commercial root beers.
Registration is required to attend the event: http://www.cc-pl.org/events/viewevent.htm?id=2652
